Achieving net-zero by 2050 requires massive adoption of energy transition technologies such as renewables, electrification, decentralization and grid modernization, energy efficiency and conservation mechanisms amongst others. In fact, these technologies are required to attain significant deployment levels, if net-zero by 2050 is to be achieved.
However, a lot of these technologies are still yet to witness extensive adoption so as to curb emissions. Instead, there are institutional barriers, lack of government policies, unfavorable economics amongst other factors that make the widespread use of these energy transition technologies limited.
This report therefore presents recent trends in the deployment of these energy transition technologies, so that policymakers would be abreast of the developments and barriers limiting their aggressive adoption. It is intended that this report would enable policymakers gain an up-to-date insight into developments in the energy transition space, so that the right policies can be made, that would support net-zero emissions by 2050.
